Work-free, Themes, Answers and a Plug

Filed under: Daily, Meme, Music, Online & Tech, Uni.I finally submitted my Management Business Report today and I’m hella relieved, because it means I’m out of work for a while until mid-April so I still have time to get ready to do the next work pile-ups, and my Marketing mid-terms, in which is in 2 weeks.
I changed the theme. I’ve been looking for a theme which screams “SIMPLE” especially with the color red, the color I’m so into nowadays. One thing that frustrates me is that I can’t make a Wordpress theme by myself. I remember when I was back in Blogger I used to change my layouts frequently, coming up with designs, using my own coding, everything entirely by me. When I’m done with them I usually upload them to my Blogskins account, for people to use. I check Technorati links every now and then to see who’s using my layouts, and I’m pretty flattered there are actually a few people who do. But with Wordpress, I’m entirely dependent on themes. I think I’ve lost my coding and designing power, especially with PHP, which gives the bejeezus headache out of me. Plus I can’t do XHTML the right way so if you tried to validate my blog, expect a lot of red marks! Okay, enough geek talk. 
Oh, time to answer your questions!
1. If you were in prison do you think you’d be the master or just everyone’s bitch? And what would be your prison name? -Talamasca
Lol, this question actually got me thinking. I think I’d be in the middle of both, I can be the master, but at the same time I could make a bitch out of myself. I seem to be really good at telling people what to do and persuade them, so I guess it’s more of the former. If I was a bitch, I’d only take special requests. My prison name? Well why don’t you give me one?
2. My question: say you lost all your hair.. because of leukemia or something. Would you wear a wig? Or just not bother trying to hide that. -Paddy
Lord God forbid if I lose all my hair. If I was shiny-ass bald, I’d wear a wig, because that would be just hella sick to have shiny head. It depends on the situation actually. I wouldn’t entirely hide it, I’d wear a wig when I need to and if I don’t feel like I’ll go head-commando. Haha.
3. If you were to be a guy for a day, what would you do? -Jhed
Easy! I’d have sex! Wooooooo
4. If you were to join american/indonesian/philippine/WHATEVER idol, what song[s] would you really want to sing? -Donya Quixote
Wow, this is hard. To be contemporary, I’d sing a Paramore song, maybe Pressure or My Heart whichever. I was browsing through my iPod yesterday and looked for contest-worthy non-contemporary songs that I’m capable of singing, I haven’t really found any. If I do, I’ll tell you. Paramore was just an excuse coz I’m listening to them now. Teehee.
5. If you were to sing a RAP song - what would you sing? -Kevin
I know almost all of Eminem’s songs by heart, so I’d probably sing one of his.
6. Who’s your most favorite blogger of allllll time? -Shari
Ala Paredes. Definitely. I don’t usually read her pansitan blog, more of her livejournal one. She’s so articulate, and whatever’s on her head she usually blogs it down. It’s transparent, straightforward, edgy. Whatever she feels, she puts it down and that’s what I love about her writing. No pretentions.
PLUG! Nominated at CandyMag’s TeenBlog Awards. I think it’s pretty cool to support CandyMag because it’s the only Filipino teen magazine that I read. The other’s don’t interest me much. mh, actually it’s not to difficult to make a wordpress theme if you know how *lol* but I myself needed ages to find out how I could costumize my own themes…
Okay, a tip: Take the comments.php, index.php and page.php from a theme you like (maybe check out http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags to costumize them.) and just build your own header.php and footer.php and leave the sidebar.php empty. So put your navi instead in the header or footer…

I know whatcha mean about creating your own stuff. Ive had that problem recently, ever since sarah made me a layout I’ve found it so hard to come up with something myself. ALAS, finally I have, its a little basic but its what I like

My WordPress and PHP skills aren’t great either. Just a hack, really.
I’m learning Typo (like WordPress) which runs on Ruby on Rails (which I’m also learning), so I might be moving to a Typo-powered blog, for learning purposes.
I like the layout. Clean, minimalist, easy to read. I started off with red and black theme when I started blogging. My fave 2 colours in terms of blog colours because of the contrast.
I like Ala Paredes too (I’ve been to her site a several times now) - for the transparency in her writing. I can’t be like that - I think a part of me chooses not to be so transparent as I don’t really want to put myself all out there. Sometimes, I get negative comments / e-mails… I think to myself, do I really want to subject myself to all this negativity? As I get older, I want less drama in my life… more energy and focus put on things that really count - “offline” friends, people and goals. But then, I think to myself… himm, there are so many interesting bloggers out there - to learn from, to know.
Maybe that’s why a huge part of me is losing interest in blogging / conflicted in staying.
And sex all the time if you were a guy? LOL!
Yeah, but you can do that as girl, but of course you’d be labeled a “s—lut”. Society and its double standards.

If I were a man I would have the coolest Aston Martin or Ferrari. For some reason it’s cool for men to drive them but obviously women “can’t”.
I really like this theme. I used to be able to code well with CSS and XHTML but, you know what? These days I’m not sure if I still could. Sure - I know what is semantically correct and how to make my XHTML/CSS valid but I think other than that I’ve lost any skills I may have had. I am now far too reliant upon Wordpress.

Yeah, you can check http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags so you can make your own layout. If you’ve succeeded in creating layouts in blogspot, you’ll not have a hard time in doing layouts in WP. They have little similarities. You may also want to visit the support forums of WP to ask your questions about it.

Actually I lost most of my designing powers when I also transferred to wordpress but I am learning the ropes so I can truly implement my designs independently.

I’m losing interest in “designing” themes, mainly because other people just don’t get the concept of “design”. It’s frustrating to know that they think it’s all in the graphics. Shitty coding. Dammit. LOL.
I like using free WordPress themes.
I like ALa Paredes’ blog too, yes. She’s a blogger who always nails it on the head. Straight to the point. Wuhoo!

I make my own themes. I used to be addicted, but now, I sort of understand what you mean. It just seems to tedious now.

I like this theme. The red shades are awesome. It’s not that hard to make your own Wordpress themes once you’ve got the patience to start. There are also a lot of tutorials out there that can help you tons. Email me if you’d like some help.
I’d rather read Meg than Candymag :P hehe.

Erf. Making layouts in Wordpress is soooo complicated.
I make mine by replacing the images from the free themes. Haha! At least I had my own touch on them. :P
