Weird Smelling Thing

Posted on June 24th, 2007. Filed under: Daily.

I had a good weekend. My friends and I spent the Saturday from morning til’ night. Karaoke sessions and boy-band fest. What was funny coz I have a guy friend who is a complete “metal” person, Slipknot, Trivium and Dream Theater being his main preference in music but surprisingly, he was the one who sang all the boy-band songs yesterday while we all danced to it and he knew all the words and tone. It was hilarious and we had crazy fun getting wild in the Karaoke Suite.

We recently talked about which weird-smelling things we liked. Something out of the ordinary. Sure, a freshly-baked bread bun smells just absolutely amazing, your boyfriend’s perfume (one of my personal favorites, although I don’t have a boyfriend), a good cologne or perfume, and clothes fresh out of the laundry after a good fabric softener soak. But what about those completely whack smells? My bestfriend said she loves the smell of petrol in a gas station. Personally, I can’t stand that, it gives me a headache. Another friend said she loves the smell of something burning, like ‘lighting-a-matchstick-just-for-fun-just-for-the-sake-of-smelling-it’ kind of thing. Glue was also one of the things talked about but let’s not discuss that, or else you’ll think all my friends are freaks. Well they must be, why then would they be friends with me? :p When it was their turn to ask me, their faces changed when I told them what weird smelling thing I liked.

I like the smell of gutter.

WTF? I bet on rat’s ass you must be thinking that. I don’t know why the hell I like the smell of gutter. It’s not like it arouses me or anything, or particularly love it that I have to smell it all the time but when I come across that kind of smell, I don’t complain. I don’t go “yuck” or “eww” or “what the hell is this smell?!?!”, I just leave it be. It’s not bad. I “kind of” like it. What about you? And weird smelling things you like?

I find your choice a bit too odd for me, I will admit. Yeah. Slightly disturbing almost! (The gutter, really?!) As for me - I love the smell of new books, of a matchstick being put out, of freshly cut grass (even if it makes me sneeze) and certainly of petrol.

GUTTER SMELL?! haha. I didn’t guess that one. As for me, I don’t find your friends’ preferences weird at all, in fact, I also like the smell of petrol and burning things. Hahaha.

I looooove the smell of cars. As in, pag bagong bili pa lang yung car. :D haha.

I think you already know the weird scents I like. I like the smell of a fresh and hot photocopy. I also love the smell of balikbayan boxes, it’s called that imported smell.

I also like the smell of new electronic stuff. Mmmm electronicky!

I like the smell of blood.

No srsly! My dad had surgery done on his head once. When he came home, his head was still bleeding, and I thought it smelled good.

My “olfactory preference” depends on my mood. I have my moments, you see. Whenever I feel elated, I crave for the smell of something industrial, like steel or electronic gadgets or photocopied stuff. When I’m sad, I long for farty scents. Nothing beats the smell of gastrointestinal gas on a gloomy day! Makes me happy anytime! And when I feel *cough*horny*cough*, nothing beats briny sweat. Oh, and Eyemo-ish tears on the side. Freak much? ;-p

LOL! This is probably your best post evah! No shit! Foshizzle, my nizzle! ;-p

That is interesting about the weird smells. I like the smell of candles right when you blow them out lol. I don’t think that’s too weird though. Now people who like the smell of gasoline I just cannot understand.

eh i know the smell of gasoline gives me a major headache. the smell of my previous girlfriends colonge/lotion was always a great smell, i think just cause you like that person and maybe you associate the smell with them. i like the smell of soy sauce.

That story about your guy friend who knew all the lyrics to boyband songs during your karaoke was funny! *lol* Weird smells? Hmm… I like the smell of matchsticks, too. I can’t explain why, though. =D You like the smell of gutter? That’s the first I heard of that! ;) I love your layout, btw. And not jsut because it’s orange. *lol*

Gutter. You are making me think which gutter is it. The only gutter I am only acquainted with is the gutter on the roof. Imagine, you are sniffing the hell out of it.

The smell of gasoline (or petrol) excites me a lot. I don’t know, I just like it.

I only noticed now that you added me to your blogroll… Thank you. I’ve linked you up too. I should’ve done it a long time ago, but I’m lazy about updating my Flickr album and WordPress blogroll (I really need to convert my whopping browser bookmarks to WP, lol).

Smells… hmm. Normal smells I like: fresh bread baking, citrusy stuff, a guy who just got out of a shower smelling fresh and clean (lol, preferably I was in the shower, too… kidding), umm… flowers, wood, leather.

Weird smells: toxic markers, old books that haven’t been opened in a long time… and the smell of my laptop heating up and burning.

Hey! That sounds like fun singing karaoke. That’s a weird conversation about the smells you like. I’ve never really thought about it. I do like the new car smell. Talk to you later bye.

Seriously?! Gutter?! All the mossy, icky and greeny smell of it?! Haha! Contrary to what I’m known to.. I don’t like the smell of Clorox or anything similar to that. *wink wink* I like the smell of floor wax or nail polishers. Haha! It’s.. exhilirating!

    haha… blog-hopping…

i like the smell of gasoline in the same manner as you “like” the smell of gutter… (”It’s not like it arouses me or anything, or particularly love it that I have to smell it all the time but when I come across that kind of smell, I don’t complain. I don’t go “yuck” or “eww” or “what the hell is this smell?!?!”, I just leave it be.”)
