Theme Park Mania
Posted on June 26th, 2007. Filed under: Daily. My whole body is aching right now. I think I might have walked about 10km all in all yesterday. Most of the friendship clan went to a theme park yesterday. In Indonesia, they call it DuFan which is short for Dunia Fantasi. In English, that’s Fantasy World. Except yesterday, it didn’t seem like one. We planned to go on a Monday because we “thought” it would be less crowded since it’s the start of the working week. Little did we know each and every person who planned on going there thought of the same thing too.
The moment we reached and bought our tickets, the place already had signs of congestion. More people went inside and nobody had signs of going in. Personally, I’m not a crowd person. It gives me panic attacks. So, with the help of my lovely friends and handy brown paper bag, I’m proud to say I survived the whole day without any disasters. The handy brown paper bag especially worked well during the roller-coaster queue for breathing purposes in crowded lines.
I love roller-coasters. I love the adrenaline feeling and rush during and after it. The main thing here is, I totally get all panicky before it. I’ve been on them for so many times but I still can’t get over that pre-riding jitters. I remember that time when I was in Hong Kong Disneyland last October, my cousin and I rode the Space Mountain. That was probably the craziest I’ve been to, not because of the size or whatever. It’s because it was dark, in a close space. In addition to me being ochlophobic (fear of crowds), I’m also quite claustrophobic. Not in all cases, just in some. I only have mild cases in both phobias. IMO, the worst form of roller-coasters are indoor ones. Ones where either you open or close your eyes, it’s the same darkness. I’m more of an open-roller coaster kind of person. After all, that’s the kind of adrenaline I’m looking for. Natural air-filled ones.
PS: All your weird-smelling tastes were interesting!

I am much like you. I don’t normally like large crowds. I am also a bit claustrophobic. I like rollercoasters too, but I freak out and get all nervous when I’m in the line and when they’re about to take off lol

Haha I am deathly scared of rollercoasters. I get this dreadful yet excited feeling before the car goes down and when it does, it feels as if my heart stopped beating for a couple seconds. Haha.

OMG! I FOUND YOU AGAIN! love your site!

I agree with you on open-aired roller coasters. I didn’t enjoy the one I rode in Thailand because it was closed up… it was really too dark to enjoy anything. There’s no anticipation of the loop, or whatever, since I can’t even see the tracks.
I do love the roller coasters in Hong Kong Ocean Park. I’m crazy for it!
I also do have a mild case of ochlophobia… that’s why I can’t go to mall sales. Malls are usually jam-packed with girls gone crazy for shopping. lol

I LOVE ROLLERCOASTERS AS WELL!
i love sharp corners best. teeheehee.
i haven’t been to a theme park in ages. so jealous. haha… will put enchanted kingdom on my to-do list.

Vicki: I used to be, until I got on one. It really feels good. That going down thing is probably the best part!
Skye: Yeah, it sucks when you want to enjoy something but you can’t even see where it’s going. Crowded malls are the worst. Wait, crowded SM is the worst.
Donya Quixote: Hurrah for sharp corners!

i am so spamming u right now. but this is what my comment was:
i looove rollercoaster rides! the before, during and after feeling of it just thrills me! even though i get all panicky also before the ride, i still love it. it’s a good-nervous feeling u know? but i HATE crowded theme parks. specially long lines! i hate it.

Nina: Don’t worry, I took the liberty of deleting them
Long lines definitely suck. Errgghh.

I think I handle myself well in crowded situations but most certainly will do everything I can to avoid them. I love going to greenhills (which is quite known for its crazy crowds) so I’m a bit used to crowds.
Believe is or not, I’ve ridden a rollercoaster only a handful of times, and rollercoasters in the Philippines aren’t that impressive.

I can’t get rid of the pre-riding jitters as well. Haha! Tapos, I prefer naman indoor roller coasters. Kasi, at least madilim. Haha!

When I was in Junior High my friends and I used to ride the roller coaster at SM Storyland endlessly; we would purchase the ride-all-you-can ticket then we’d monopolize and dominate the whole place. And other people were complaining. Haha.
I have to see Tokyo Disneyland. I’m serious.

I always feel jittery before my the first rollercoaster ride. But when the first one is through, I always feel like going back in line.

I haven’t been on a rollercoaster ride for at least 3 years now…
Actually, I like the feeling of pre-ride jitters… That’s part of the fun, lol… scaring yourself silly.

Big crowds often give me the creeps as well. I often feel the same way about roller coasters as well. Its normal.

My fear of heights gets in the way, so I’m not all jumping for joy about rollercoasters. But I did try Space Shuttle at the Enchanted Kingdom (thrice). We went on a Sunday during February so there were not that many people. The lines were so short that right after your ride, you can immediately ride again after because no one else queued up, haha!

It’s hard to enjoy roller coasters especially when you have fears of tiny spaces and crowds, eep, I’d like to congratulate you though that you were able to survive!
I don’t like roller coasters, they’re scary.. Thrilling and exciting, yes. But it just doesn’t work for me, I get the feeling that I’d die if I get to ride one. :| I get paranoid about it. The only thing (?) I rode that’s close to a roller coaster would probably the ones that slides through water. I forgot what they’re called, haha, I’m mostly scared at its loops.. :|
So, I ride other rides instead.. but I’ll never ever ride a roller coaster and the space mountain.

i also love theme parks! just the happy screams makes me all go excited to ride on every attraction! i’ve only been on a rollercoaster once and im planning to ride one again if ever i have the time to go at one of the theme parks here.

Coasters? Love it. I like riding it for my “high speed endurance” training for racing.
By the way,are you really Ellen Adarna’s friend?

I also love the adrenaline rush when riding roller coasters. I miss that kind of feeling now

I love roller coasters too.
Haha, may naalala ako. Dati gusto ko sumakay sa isang roller coaster nung bata pa ako kaso hindi ako nakasakay panu hindi pwede height ko. Maliit kasi ako e. Nyahaha. Kainis yun.
