What’s New and 2.3
Posted on September 27th, 2007. Filed under: Daily, Online & Tech, Uni.Greetings! I know I haven’t blogged for SO long, my hands have been quite full lately. But don’t you just love the feeling when you finish an essay which isn’t even due a week after? Saves you time from procrastinating doesn’t it? I should definitely do that more often, I procrastinate too much. It’s not pretty, what’s worse is that it doesn’t end up pretty. Bah.
So anyway, I just got this little thing called a MacBook (and all its white glory) last Sunday and I’m loving every single bit of it. Which also means that I’ve officially done ‘the switch‘, and I really do recommend it. If you go way back the Juice lane, then remember this post dated almost a year ago? Well I finally got this baby of mine and it took about almost a year and a few lectures from the parents along the way. You see, I’ve always been borrowing my parents’ laptops, crashing and burning it in the process. I’ve crashed my mom’s Toshiba more than 3 times and my dad’s HP which he had to reformat, I must have toxic hands or something. They got sick of it, so they bought me my very own. Needless to say, I’m a very happy camper. It’s got a 120GB HDD, 2.16GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB of Ram (which I’m planning to upgrade in the near future), iSight, iLife, iWork, Adobe Creative Suite CS3, Office for Mac ‘04 and all the spiffy-ness which comes with a MacBook. I was planning to name it Boss at first, because my iPod’s name is Hugo, but decided on something a little bit more feminine, and opted for Missy, because she’s a bitch. Obviously I’m turning mental now.
I upgraded my Wordpress to 2.3 yesterday and something went wrong with the database that I had to force upgrade my database and I lost all my categories which sucks. It was just a momentarily suckage because I could’ve had it worse and could have lost all my precious posts so thankfully nothing that major happened. I don’t know why I always feel the need to upgrade once a new one comes, I’m just so OC with this whole WP thing. Plus, I’m not liking the Google links thing, I wish they could put it back to Technorati. Boo.
What’s new with you?

You little spoiled brat, you! ;-p
What’s it look like? Is it white or black blah di blah blah?
Anyway, mazel tov on the new buy and try not to crash it… literally. Kbabai. ;-p

Reply: It’s white! Aaaand, I really hope my toxic hands won’t affect it haha :P

Isn’t procrastinating like a standard or something, and I just remembered I have to do something for school.
Congrats about the MacBook, you’re the envy of every teenager like me who wants one! :P
And I couldn’t agree more on the Technorati to Google change.
That’s it, I’m downgrading lol.
—
Reply: Procrastinating is more than a standard for me, it’s my life! Haha :P yeah, was kinda bummed about the Technorati changes. Don’t downgrade!

what’s new with me? glad you asked! a new domain name! I know i sent you an email about this, but here I go again. heh. waah. i am so jealous. i so need/want a new laptop. my good ole desktop needs to retire.
—
Reply: My old laptop retired after a good 5 or 6 years, and it was a hand-me-down from my dad haha.

Congrats on the new laptop! You make me want one of my own, but I don’t think I could live with a Mac :P
Missy is a strange name for a laptop…
—
Reply: It is right? I don’t know, it was the first name which came up in my mind so I directly stuck with it. Thanks for coming by Kaylee!

Looks like you’re the third person who’s encountered difficulties with upgrading. It’s making me more and more dubious about moving to 2.3 myself…
—
Reply: Just really look out for your database. I had to go through 2 upgrades because I merely overwrote my 2.2.3 files and didn’t erase them so it crashed for a while, but I got it back up and running. Good luck with upgrading Valamity! It shouldn’t be a problem

well well well youre now officially a mac zealot! lol
patience, patience… i dunno how much longer i can hold back hahah. just keep the mac fanboy-ing down a little, and that’ll help me with the waiting, mmkay? kthxbye
—
Reply: With waiting? Seriously it’s pretty hard, especially if you really need the thing already, in which I really really did.. sooo.. I had to scratch the itch! Haha.

Woah! You’ve been Macified. I’ll get my hands with my own Mac soon… I hope I can do it now.
—
Reply: I like that: Macified!

Yay for your new Mac. My boyfriend named my Mac Buck Satan. (Don’t ask me why, haha).
And I don’t know the feeling of finishing any major assignment early as I procrastinate WAAYY too much.
—
Reply: You should try it, sooo beats the feeling of procrastination :P

I’ve been thinking of switching to Mac, but I feel that most of the programs I need are made for windows. Plus… I just don’t like Mac because of the iPod (which I truly hate) lol But heck, I want a new laptop!!!!
—
Reply: Why do you hate the iPod? It’s my savior! And, switching to Mac is really worthwile, I’ve found a lot of programs in Mac which are even better than the ones I’ve encountered in Windows

i think i really should buy a new laptop. mine is over 4 years old. perhaps i should try mac this time but i’m still having two minds about it. convince me more.
—
Reply: I don’t have to prove the Mac because it’s already good enough as it is. Really, it’s worth it :P

Actually, a MacBook can be very useful for my course. I wonder when my parents are going to buy one for me. Can’t wait. Lol. Haven’t thought of a name for it, though.
Hmmm. Guess I have to stick to Windows for a while since some I get used on using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator with that kind of OS.
—
Reply: What’s your course? A MacBook IS really spiffy
I think everyone should try it.

Macbook’s the shit. I’m planning to sell my Dell laptop for a Macbook. Mac’s sleek, light and slim for me.
Hay. When will I do the trade!?!? lol
—
Reply: Yes, a MacBook is sleek and slim, but it’s not really all that light. You’re not satisfied with your Dell?
September 28th, 2007 at 1:39 pm
Ooohh snap! Someone’s ballin’!
I’ve been longing for Mac ever since I was ‘enlightened’ after using them for my media arts classes last year.. I guess I’ll have to stick to Windows for now!
—
Reply: Haha this is the second comment where you’ve said that I was “ballin’”

Did you have all your plugins deactivated? A few of my other friends went through that too. Apparently, this new version alters your MySQL tables (perhaps because of the new tags feature) and, if one thing isn’t done properly, can cause your installation to get messed up.
Weird, though. My categories work perfectly fine, but when I viewed PhpMyAdmin, my wp_categories table was gone as well, which is really bizarre.
—
Reply: I don’t know, I guess I’ll settle with this nalang. It could’ve been worse diba? My plugins were activated so do you think that might have caused it?

The only kind of Mac I want is a Big Mac. Yay!
—
Reply: Yay for that!
September 28th, 2007 at 7:43 pm
lmao @ JOYFULCHICKEN
Anyway, congrats on finishing the essay early. I’m the empress of procrastinating.
I like the white-ness of Macs… But, I don’t want to give up the Windows interface.
I’m not a wordpress user, so I’m kind of lost on the ending but… upgrading is the best thing to do with stuff like that. The old version will soon be phased out anyway.
—
Reply: I love the whiteness of Macs too, and I was ready to give up Windows already for a year now, that’s probably why my transition became pretty easy
Thanks for dropping by!

You know, when WP upgrades, it makes so stressed-out lol. I haven’t upgraded mine because I’m still waiting for my plugins to be upgraded too.
I have a new nail polish because my fave one has been MIA lately. :P
—
Reply: Me too! I’ve had my fair share of bad and good upgrades, and this wasn’t so good haha.
September 29th, 2007 at 3:54 am
I’m skuurrrrrrrrrred to mess with my WP and upgrade haha.
—
Reply: I’m immune to it already. Hahah.

I know jealousy isn’t becoming of anyone, but I can’t help but be jealous that you’re in possession of a (shiny, white and glorious) Mac. My parents have suggested I run my laptop over and claim insurance on it simply for the money to buy a Mac. That’s an awesome idea, if it were highly illegal. Haha.
WordPress fails.
—
Reply: I know right, WP fails big time. Maaan, if I could’ve done that to my laptop, I’d done it since last year!
